EXAMPLES
Community Profiling
We have extensive experience in profiling communities to support area-based decision-making and strategic planning. Our profiles bring together a range of demographic, social, economic, cultural, environmental and geographical data as well as feedback from community consultation in order to provide a full picture of the specific characteristics and needs of local communities.
Social Exclusion & Poverty Profiling
In 2000/01, Dr Collins developed innovative methods of identifying and analysing adult and child deprivation, which are particularly relevant to rural counties where deprivation is often often in national statistics. In the ground-breaking study 'Challenging Perceptions' published in 2002, Dr Collins developed a micro-level mapping technique to identify pockets of elderly people living on low income in rural areas in Wiltshire. The findings from this study and other profiling exercises have been used extensively for a whole range of initiatives including the development of strategies; as supporting evidence for funding applications and to target benefit take-up campaigns.
Education & Pupil Profiling
We have extensive experience in mapping, analysing and profiling the socio-economic characteristics of school populations. The profiles we have developed have been used for evidence-based planning and service delivery; to support funding applications; and to assist schools with Ofsted inspections.
